Making h-old® a Better Team
In a nod to the Saint-Gobain® motto of “Making the World a Better Home,” the h-old team at the Tape Solutions Biandrate, Italy site held a special event, “Making h-old a Better Team.” The goal of this event was for employees to learn about, celebrate and propel forward a culture of trust, empowerment and collaboration (TEC).
This day was inspired by feedback from the latest me@saint-gobain survey which highlighted the importance and impact of a connected, motivated and efficient workplace on fostering an environment of safety, joy and well-being in the workplace.
Such events help reinforce that TEC are not just ideals but integral parts of daily operations, vital to maintaining positive relationships with employees and customers alike.
Why TEC

Highlights from the Event
The “Making h-old a Better Team” event unfolded in three key phases: a morning session, a team barbecue for lunch, and an interactive afternoon.
The morning session began with an introduction to the new company management policy, followed by an emotionally charged EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) speech that recounted real-life events. This speech was deeply impactful and helped to reinforce and reflect on the concept of “Safety is Me.” The session highlighted the importance of a safe work environment where every employee feels responsible for their own safety as well as the safety of their colleagues. The morning concluded with a discussion focusing on h-old products and applications, as well as a review of the recent customer satisfaction survey, emphasising the concept of customer intimacy. This helped underline that by understanding customers better, Tape Solutions will be better equipped to deliver superior products and services, ultimately driving customer satisfaction and business success.
During the lunch break, employees participated in a fun barbecue event that required “all hands on deck.” Employees were all involved in making this lunchtime event a success, from setting up tables to cooking to cleaning up afterwards. This inclusive activity made it easy for colleagues to bond over a shared meal, fostering camaraderie and teamwork in a relaxed and informal setting.
The afternoon was dedicated to engaging employees through interactive events. The first of these events involved participation in an interactive quiz centred around the topic of sustainability as well as the history and culture of the Saint-Gobain group. This playful approach allowed participants to learn and engage in a fun and creative way. The quiz not only tested their knowledge but also fostered a sense of community and pride in our rich heritage and commitment to growing sustainable practices and solutions. Following this activity was a team-building exercise aimed at defining strategy and roles within a team. It focused on encouraging communication, trust and collaboration amongst employees. In this final session, participants were able to reflect on the significance of TEC in achieving both personal and organisational success.
Keeping core values top of mind
By maintaining events such as “Making h-old a Better Team” across many different Tape Solutions sites, values of trust, empowerment and collaboration remain top-of-mind. Emphasis on these values helps create a work environment that supports a stronger, more cohesive workforce, dedicated to making better teams while having a small yet significant impact on making the world a better home.
