High-Temperature Electrical Insulation Tape Solutions

To ensure a consistently reliable energy supply, as well as effective transformation, transmission and component protection in modern energy grids exposed to extreme temperatures and currents, the electromechanical industry requires robust tapes with high thermal ratings that can withstand design and application stresses. Electromechanical engineers need tailored solutions that combine various backings, including PTFE, PI or glass cloth, with high-performance adhesives that contribute to a tape’s thermal performance alongside other critical properties, including electrical, mechanical and chemical considerations. Our UL-certified tapes range from high-tensile-strength glass cloth tapes, ideal for holding/banding layers in the winding of a dry-type transformer, to conformable polyimide tapes, which are ideal for wrapping end-winding phase insulation in a motor or generator, resulting in fewer defects, longer service life and greater resistance.

Nomex® Aramid Paper Tapes

Nomex aramid paper tapes with acrylic (Class F, 155°C) or rubber (Class B, 130°C) adhesives are an ideal choice to ensure puncture resistance and absorption, and are excellent for use in resin-filled transformers or motors.

Fluoropolymer tapes

Fluoropolymer tapes (PTFE and FEP) with silicone adhesive offer outstanding temperature resistance (Class N, 200°C) and dielectric strength, making them ideal for insulating end-windings in high-temperature motors and generators. The fluoropolymer backings are available in a wide range of thicknesses and conformability options.
